Advantages: skins, visuals, FREEEEEE
Disadvantages: home page a bit slow
I have used Sonique for the last two years, and its still my favourite media player. Its a well featured and flexible player, that can handle almost any audio format you can throw at it. It features 2 of my most important decision making factors. 1. Its Free (i love that word) 2. Its Damn Sexy Sonique can play most audio formats, and its range is expanding as the programmers submit more pluggins to the site. The beat driven visuals give a life to it, and the general navigation system is fluent and logical. The interface was one of the first i know of to fully utilise the idea of skins. A skin is new look front end for the software. Microscum's Media Player 7 now uses skins as well, but nowhere near as well or as fluently as Sonique. You can choose to have it in any of three modes; Full, mid mode (whith a small visual diplay window), or minimal (which is just a small bar sitting in the corner of the screen, gently pulsing with the beat). All this combined with the large following of skin designers, Visual pluggin designers, and audio pluggin designers who submit work to the site, mean that the options for customisation, upgrading and long life are fantastic. I could go on, but mercifully i wont. I would just like to say: Download it! try it, and tell me you don't wish these guys would do a web browser too.
