Advantages: Very easy to set up and administor
Disadvantages: Dosent work with WinME
Sygate was the first piece of proxy software that i used, and i worked without any bother within minuits. Sygate has support for all the protocols that is supported in TCP/IP. The only problem ive had is when i got my new computer with WinME installed on it. For some wierd reason sygate didnt work with this. I know that WinME has ICS installed with it... but that didnt work either. So i had to change my proxy software, and every other piece of software that i use the SOCKS protocol will not work. I never had this problem with sygate, everything worked. I could use napster and any other internet software that used SOCKS worked fine. Now im lost with this. Sygate is very easy to install on your network. You install the server part of the software on the computer that has the modem in it and then install the client part on all other computers that you have on the network. Sygate has some very interesting features. The client computer can connect or dissconnect from the internet and anytime just by clicking on a button. You can also block access to certain sites that you dont want any computers on the network accessing. There is also an option in the preferences on the server to add extra security which in turn basicaly acts as a very simple firewall. The server installation shows all the computers that are connected to the server and what each computer is viewing at that moment. It also logs all the sites that are accessed by each computer and when and also what user on the other computers viewed the site. All in all this piece of software is very good and works with great efficiency. A very negiable ammount of resources are taken up by the software. I would definatly say that it would be worth it to buy this program. It helped me out and it actualy works.
