Syntrillium Cool Edit Pro: ... the recording. Aswell as this there are pre-programmed settings for hiss reduction and hum and hiss removal. Being a musician, this is very useful for me. No longer are my recordings full of clicks and crackles and the guinea pig sqeuaking in the background! Another set of very useful tools contained in this program are the filters. From here you can remove microphone rumble, subharmonics and even make files ...

... but it does provide a powerful solution to audio editing and multitracking. Working in a radio station, I use CEP all the time in a production environment. This is where I think that CEP excels over everything else. Speed id the name of the game and all basic tasks are simple to achieve and not time consuming. If you partner this program with a reasonably fast computer, you have a killer package that will do all you need it to do. Saying that though, CEP will run on nearly any PC with a souncard as I have it running at home on an old computer (by todays standards). Of course, it is all personal opinion but I think I am justified as I have tried a lot of other packag...

... you could want it to. Editing is intuitive, the interface is easy on the eye (handy for longer mastering sessions) and it doesn't take a tech wizard to operate. The best features are the MP3 encoding into variable bitrate - which produces perfect results; and the 'amplitude' editing which allows very cool effects. If you want ProTools quality on a budget, and don't need loads of outboard gear, this program is an absolute gem. Download the demo (which isn't too restrictive for 30 days) and you can play about with it for a bit. This program would be great for a student wanting to learn digital audio editing, or anyone who wanted to put together a...

Recess Syntrillium Cool Edit 2000
... how I like it - enough things for me to play with, and get it wrong, not enough to reduce me to a crying baby!! The interface is really nice. When it comes to editing sound, the slightest millisecond can mean a lot, and being able to see that millisecond, and edit it, which a lot of progs won't let you - is something that's a godsend sometimes. But, if you get all the plug-ins too, then it's SOOOOOOO much better. Currently, I think there's three of them out right now. The Studio plug-in, which turns your CE2K program into a four-track recording studio - which is really easy and nice to work with, The EQ plugin, which I don't have yet, but appa...
