Anyone who lives online even half as much as I do will probably have a need for several Instant Messaging (IM from now on) programs. It starts innocently enough... your friend uses Yahoo Messenger so you download that, then you meet some online friends who use Microsofts? MSN Messenger and you install that... your colleagues use ICQ so that goes on too, then you find a friendly online community such as OpCom (see my profile if you don?t know about The Opinionated Community) and start using IRC. The final straw comes when someone asks you to put AOL Instant Messenger on as well. That is NOT touching my hard drive! Each IM program has it?s own special ... Read the complete review

Instant Messaging is one of the shooting stars of the Net, and it is estimated that 60% of Net users will be using Instant Messaging by 2004, with it becoming a tool for business and leisure alike, such are its potential applications. Of course though, just as often as not as with the case of everyone having a mobile phone but aren't all on the same network, with Instant Messaging the same is true. However there is no interconnection with Trillian, but it offers the next best solution, namely supporting various Instant Messaging clients in one. Before using Trillian, I usually had three/four IM programs on the system tray, which clutters up the place, and ... Read the complete review

I have been a user of MSN Messenger service since Version 1.something and it has been one of those programs that I always install on peoples PC's when I work on them, the ability to instantly chat and then the bonus of voice chat for free is awesome. I tried Trillian for the first time on Wednesday 14th November after reading about it on DooYoo and all I can say is wow. The ability to connect to all of the IM's at once is fantastic, I have friends who use all of the more well known clients and I have been trying to get them to use one system for ages as I was having to run 4 or 5 IM's at once, a system drain and an age to boot. Now ... Read the complete review

There are many ways of chatting in real time over the 'net. The most popular method is using an instant messenger (such as ICQ). The less well-known but much older option is IRC (internet relay chat). But what are you to do if you have friends using different IM networks and also want to chat on IRC? Running several clients at once is not only a drain on system resources but is also difficult to manage. Here's where Trillian comes in. It is a single program that integrates the four big IM networks (ICQ, AIM, Yahoo and MSN) and IRC into one interface. I was more than a little sceptical about this, having previously tried Jabber (which does a similar ... Read the complete review

A few years ago, some bright spark came up with instant messaging. Welcome to the new generation. Trillian manages to combine your AOL, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo and even IRC instant messengers into one truly stunning program. This here is a program of WinAmp epic proprtions. You install the program, and then tell it about each of your accounts. You can even tell it to have multiple accounts on any service open - for example I use 2 MSN, 2 ICQ, 1 Yahoo and several IRC accounts at the same time. It will import all your Buddies/Contacts etc from ICQ, MSN etc adn put them all in one big Contact List. Each contact has an icon by their name that tells you which ... Read the complete review
