Advantages: Chat to all the major IMs, Save resources, Faster Boot up

Disadvantages: Beta release

I have been a user of MSN Messenger service since Version 1.something and it has been one of those programs that I always install on peoples PC's when I work on them, the ability to instantly chat and then the bonus of voice chat for free is awesome.

I tried Trillian for the first time on Wednesday 14th November after reading about it on DooYoo and all I can say is wow.

The ability to connect to all of the IM's at once is fantastic, I have friends who use all of the more well known clients and I have been trying to get them to use one system for ages as I was having to run 4 or 5 IM's at once, a system drain and an age to boot.

Now they can use what they want and I can chat to them all its great.

The current version is still only a Beta release, so it doesn’t contain the file transfer option and the multiple users in one chat window, but i'm sure that is to come.

As soon as Trillian is able to do these things and maybe allow voice chat too, I believe this will become one of the most downloaded programs of all time.

All I want from a chat program is to be able to chat, key or voice, send & receive files, and maybe get into a net meeting the quick way without having to input IP addresses, MSN does all this, so as soon as Trillian can do what MSN has been doing for ages it will be perfect, programs like ICQ have gone too far in my opinion as they have too much in them, it's a chat program for gods sake.

The only things I can see being a problem for this software is:

1. The name, it sounds a bit hmmmm odd, childish I don’t know but it sounds strange, it may not get taken seriously.

2. The possibility of the server i.e. MSN OAL etc trying to block the use of it, that would be a bad thing.

I think AOL or MSN should have done this a long time ago, their chat client would be the most popular by now, imagine the advertising revenue from a client with so m
any users.

Well done the Trillian team I look forward to your next release.
