Before I get any complaints or corrections let me state that I have an earlier version of Uk-Info Pro (version 2 I recall).

Although the earlier versions miss out the new features such as streetmapping (so you can see where the person you have looked up lives and how to get there) they still provide the basic key function of the software in being a automated Uk phone directory. As calling 192 now costs you around 50p a go, if you use directory enquiries a lot in your life then this may well pay for itself in a short space of time.

The Pro version (well on the one I have anyway) allows you to search on more criteria and over the whole country rather than just one county or area.

If you are into Geneaology (i.e. researching your relatives and family tree) or just interested in how many other people out there share your surname or indeed name (although this is probably not much interest to you if you are called John Smith).

The database does not include ex-directory numbers (makes sense) or in my version businesses, but in itself it is a very interesting tool.

Unfortunately the software does not allow a reverse lookup on phone number (to allow you to identify new callers on your phone if you have CLI or dial 1471) but hopefully this may be included in a more up to date version.

Speed is reasonable, although not blindingly fast although this obviously depends on your system.

Possible uses include:

Geneaology
Money saving over 192 directory enquiries
Travelling salespeople, doctors, etc.
Tracking down that nice person you met at the disco but lost their number.
Decoding unclear messages on answering machines (e.g. business leads)

Overall a good package that "does what it says on the tin"
