Advantages: none
Disadvantages: out of date, incomplete, overpriced
The version I have is UK Info Business 2002 and at £200plus felt it should provide a definitive record to UK businesses as it states on the box. I was very pleased when I received the box with the CD-rom in it, the packaging led me to believe that this would indeed be a useful business resource. However when I installed the software I was apalled that the information was woefully incomplete to such an extent that I realised that it is for most part a useless bit of vapourware. The program allows you to search by type of company in an area, but I quickly realised that comparing the search results with the phone directory. less than 40% of the businesses I checked were even listed. These were limited companies who had not moved address in years which were not even listed, let alone had any details about. Having found those parts to be so incomplete I then moved on to see what information it had about the companies that were listed, and generally it is hardly anything other than the address, which in many cases was out of date by years In summary I would describe this product as over priced vapourware. Beautiful packaging, a nice idea, lots of statements about how comprehensive it is....but none of it lives up to its misleading claims I would not recommend this to anyone, at £200+ it represents apalling value and any sales the publishers are making are probably based on the strength of its misleading claims rather than recommendation. I am very cross with myelf for falling for those misleading claims and will be highly discouraged from purchasing another product from ICD-Publishing ever. There is no guarantee with the product that it will live up to its claims and I found this product to be so inadequate that I threw it in the bin within hours of use. I would personally describe it as a complete waste of money

- 27/02/07 Agreed! Out of date before you buy it. I would add that to access directory enquiries, the standard product gives you only 100 initial searches. After that time, you have to pay £35 per 100 which is daylight robbery considering what you pay for this software. This on top of the £149 fee for updates. As far as I can see, it's only use is for residential mailshots. |
