This isn't a beginner's guide as such, but I hope everyone who reads this can gain something from it. I have been using Visual Basic for many years now, my opinion on this development tool in general is that for the majority of software projects it is more then capable of producing the goods. VB is easy to learn - the language is very easy to follow, a beginer can create a simple Windows program in minutes. You can easily develop web applications using web classes or activex documents (but these two tools aren't the best made for doing such projects). But the beauty of VB is the fact that you CAN create very powerful, flexible ... Read the complete review

You don't have to be a computer programmer to use Visual Basic and you certainly don't need to be clever. It's so easy. I learnt the basics of this simple programming language from a book. Visual Basic is nowhere near as powerful as some other computing languages like C or CC+ but you don't need to be a specialist to use it either. You can't write programmes for extremely complex programmes with this language but you can very easily build some useful interfaces for doing other things. I used it to write a small programme that allows me to catalogue books by subject, author, or title. It can also search and find on any of these three ... Read the complete review

VB is a powerful and easy language to know if you are wanting to develop applications that use a wide range of operations. It can handle internet applications quite well however C++ would be much better for it. It can also handle graphics to a certain extent, but again there are better languages to program those in. The main problem with VB is that to give your program to someone they must also get the runtime files of the version of VB that was used to create the program. This is where the bulk of the filesize is taken up from. Delphi on the other hand will create a stand-alone file which will be much smaller than a VB distribution. Delphi is basicaly Visual PASCAL. ... Read the complete review

I am just starting out in programming and the language that I am starting out in is Visual Basic. I am very it a very useful and easy language to use. The main advantage that I can see with Visual Basic is the user interface building. It is so easy to build a very sound interface in a matter of a few minutes. It is then possible to add code to the interface easily. Visual Basic is not as flexible as say languages like C/C++ but for moderate programmers you can do almost anything you want. Doing memory operations in C is very useful but Visual Basic does not offer this functionality. The Visual Basic package is very easy to use and the help files are ... Read the complete review

Visual Basic 6,What can I say. It's possibly the best Visual Language that Microsoft have released to date. The language it's self (Being a BASIC Derivative) is very easy to get to grips with, catering for either the beginner or the expert. It allows you to develop either very simple applications or (With a bit of knowledge) very advanced Enterprise systems. Some programmers will rant on, saying that Visual Basic is not as powerful as C. This, I can assure you is NOT the case. Visual basic will let you do just about anything you want. The Front End is very intuitive and the layout is superb (Microsoft have ruined it with VB.NET) Syntax coding ... Read the complete review
