Webferret searches through numerous search engines such as Lycos, Altavista and Goto and brings results up in one window, searches can be saved and you can also choose which search engines you want Webferret to use, you can search for a keyword in either the url or the full page of websites. It can also remove duplicate url's. Since using it i haven't used another search engine because evrything i have needed Webferret has found for me and i have not recieved any dead links. Premium Review WebFerret: Keep a new pet. A WEB FERRET (181 words)
by - written on 21/09/00 (Very useful, 287 readings)

I just thought that I would let people know of a free download I found on the net. It is called, the wed ferret. It is a type of search engine (or meta search engine) that sits on your desktop. A meta search engine works by searching all the other engines (excite, altavista, etc.). It deletes any duplicate sites, so no more trawling through pages of the same names and sites some engine throw up. Another good feature is that when you place the cursor over a particular site it tells you a brief description of what it contains. No need to log on to those sites that hold no interest but sound as if they do. This ferret is also a fast little ...  Read the complete review

Often you will hear people say that when connected to the internet their connection keeps cutting off either because they have not used it for a few minutes or even while they are surfing. If this problem affects you you need a piece of software called Stay Connected, we got ours on one of these free discs which comes with computer magazines. It is available from lots of sites, softseek.com is one of them. Basically what it does is to keep you connected when you are on line hence avoiding all those annoying stops and starts in connection. It will keep you connected for hours, it does this by making your ISP think that you are actively surfing. It can ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review WebFerret: Webferret - searches across multiple searchengines & its fre ... (260 words)

A different sort of search engine is available from your standard ones called 'Webferret'. It is different because it is downloaded onto your PC rather than being executed as a visit to a web-site. The software can be downloaded from the ZDNET web-site (www.zdnet.com/downloads/)or www.ferretsoft.com. There are free versions and pay for versions. Once installed and running, a small screen is displayed where the key search words can be input. As with most searchengines, you can look for the exact phrase, or a number of other combinations. What makes Webferret different is it searches through a pre-chosen set of search engines. These ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Hmmmm ferret it out now... (226 words)

I saw this whill browsing a D/L site not so long ago and I thought I'd give it a try. Its great no more searching one site after another. Just download this and away you go. after you download it which doesn't take very long at all its so easy to use . It nestles neatly in you start programs in the 'find' folder and you just type in what you want to find and away you go. But the beauty of it it it will find the exact phrase you want not a web page with a word contained in it, If you want to look up 'free ISP' you wont end up with half your web page results with either ther word free or ISP on it . I used to use ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review WebFerret: It's The best I have ever used! (187 words)
by - written on 01/10/00 (Very useful, 18 readings)

I would rate WebFerret as one of, if not the best search engines I have ever used! I find it really simple to use and it always comes up with numerous occurances of the item you wish to retrieve information on. Many other search engines return a address and a few lines describing the site so you can determine whether or not it is what you want. I agre this is essential as you do not want to spend hours surfing sites, which if there was a description would obviously be no use. This is why I like web ferrets approach of using the tool tip for the desciption. When you a limited to 5 -10 results per page it is slow to scroll through large amounts of pages ...  Read the complete review
