The results look very professional and the beaming of notes and note spacing is excellent and clear too. Full chord features are available too and the number of staves can be as many as you want ie. for orchestral parts. It also has a playback feature where it will play the score for you with all the parts (ie. complete orchestra) or just a single part (ie. violin I) for example. There are a variety of s...more

The newest version of Capella adds even more greatness onto the 3.1 version. This program allows almost perfect music notation, with the overall printouts close to the output of Sibelius. This can be expected though, because Sibelius costs £200 more than Capella. I personally find Sibelius the better out of the two programs, and I find it (unlike other opinions) easier to use. This could be because it was the first notation program I used though. Capella has one main dissadvantade - as far as I know, it isn't possible to create phrase marks / dynamics that pass over different lines, you have to create two seperate items. This isn't a very big problem, but ...  Read the complete review

This is one of the best and most easy to use pieces of software I have come across. It rivals even the best in the industry (Pro Tools, Performer, etc.) and at a competitive price, it blows all opposition out of the water! It has all the usual features - Export to midi Import from midi 16 part polyphony Lyric writing Modulation Velocity changes Patch changes You name it, Capella has it. There are several methods of input: Using the mouse piano (click on the appeared keyboard) Click on the stave Real time input using the actual keyboard (letters and nos) or using a MIDI interface. Buy this ...  Read the complete review

Capella is the first viable alternative I've found to Sibelius. And at £119, as opposed to the £600 for Sibelius, this has got to be worth a serious look. In terms of features Capella has everything. The one thing, important to my own work, which seems to be missing from many notation packages, is the ability to do irregular groupings of notes, e.g. quintuplets, septuplets, nonuplets etc. etc. Not only is it there in Capella, but also very intuitive and intelligent. The interface is superb. Notes can be entered from your computer keyboard, from a MIDI keyboard in both real time and one note at a time, and by mouse. Determining durations is a ...  Read the complete review

If you have to do any composing, or transcribing, then this is the programme to have. Capella just seem to know how to write programmes that allow you to write down any kind of music as quickly as possible. Although Sibelius has been touted as the best music transcriber, anyone who has used it will know that this is not the case. The notation is too complicated, and the controls confusing. Capella has many features, but does not drown them in difficult complication. Buy it, and realise your musical potential!! ...  Read the complete review

I have Capella 2002 edition and have been satisfied it completely. It has about 85% of the features that Sibelius has and costs about a quarter of Sibelius too. The user interface is simple and looks very much like the a musical version of Microsoft Word with icons for all different functions arranged in rows at the top. Note input is easy, either by clicking on an on screen piano keyboard, typing in using the computer keyboard (A, B, C etc), play the notes in via a midi enabled electronic music keyboard.
