Nullsoft Winamp is probably the best media player out there for playing music on your PC. It can be downloaded at www.winamp.com

Winamp has been around for a while now and in my opinion is the best quality MP3 player for the PC because it has lots of useful features for improving sound quality such as different graphic equalizers, dynamic sound filtering (programming the music to sound as though it's being played somewhere else such as a large hall, living room even a bathroom if you want).

It plays both audio and video files and it is very easy to add songs to your playlist to play.

Another great feature is the Visualisation plug-in that comes with Winamp itself. These are mathematically programmed algorithms that display strobes, lines and flashes on your screen in line with music and its worth browsing each one to see whats best.

There are loads of preprogrammed downloadable skins for Winamp. Skins are basically another layout of the user interface and you can get them for almost any theme from the latest blockbuster to a Hal9000 computer (the computer that was featured aboard a spacecraft in the films 2001 and 2010).

The only annoying thing I find with Winamp is that when a new update comes out (also containing updated security features) a popup appears when you start the program then you need to go to the website and download it again then go through the whole installation process. I've found that unless I do this promptly, Winamp will soon start to not work too well and will even crash at times and slow my computer down.
