Winamp good, Winamp Remote annoying (Winamp)

Winamp is undoubtedly one of the most famous pieces of freeware that allows you to play mp3 files and the like. I'm not really bothered about the skins or visualisationst hat it offers, I just want to listen to music, I used to be a big fan of Winamp as it's the easiest package that I came across allowing you to easily make a playlist with a drag and drop system.

Winamp is indeed a fine specimen, I'm not going to disagree witht he other 125 reviews but what I do have it in for is Winamp Remote, the idea of which I believe is to alllow you to access your music whilst away from your computer via other computers or a mobile phone, whilst the idea is ingenius if not a bit spooky - it just doesn't appeal to me. Call me strange but I use my telephone for calling people, not to access the internet and have never done so.

Winamp Remote is thrown in with the new Winamp package and requires you to register but if you choose instead to "close"the window, you cannot get it to do so. The only option to get rid of this annoying pop-up is to go and uninstall it from the add/remove programs section.

So Winamp: Nice programme but don't shove Winamp Remote down people's throats.
