Disadvantages: How long will it last?

After enjoying using Napster for over a year, I was saddened at that American court's decision to ban it. I tried searching for a replacement, but, up until 2 months ago, the search was in vain. I say up until 2 months ago, because that is when I found the great file sharing program WinMX. It's a lot more reliable than Napster, and the much needed feature, download resume. Here's a closer look at the program's features.

Servers

Although i've said that this program is miles better than Napster, a lot of tunes can still be downloaded from them. This is thanks to the nice people at WinMX giving users two main server options, the WinMX server, where more popular music can be obtained, and the Napster server, which continues to have SOME decent songs available. These servers are high capacity servers (ie. can be accessed by a large number of users at the same time), but the program also features a number of Low Capacity servers (can only be accessed by a few people at a time). These servers are ideal for friends to share large files on.

Shared Files

This part of the program shows all folders and sub-folders either containing shared files or downloaded files. Also features a 'Scan for media' feature to enable users to scan other sections of their hard drive.

Chat

Basically the same as the Napster chat, infact, it is the same! Enables users from all servers to chat on the Napster network.

Search

Much better than the Napster search feature. Doesn't just allow people to search for music files, but, because the WinMX server allows files of all types to be shared, a se
arch filter can be applied to narrow down search results.

Again much improved on Napster. The transfer window shows incoming and outgoing downloads currently in progress. But that's not all. WinMX automatically keeps a record of incomplete files, which can be resumed from ANY other user who has the same file (v2.6 onwards).
