Communication has changed with ages and we have seen ourselves growing from the Pigeon world to the Internet world. It used to be said that in the olden days Pigeons were used for sending messages from one person to the other. Imagine the chances of your message getting delivered.

Saga of Chatting?

There was a time when I used to chat on MIRc & Pirch, and spend nearly hours on the Internet chatting. Chatting is definitely a bad addiction because it glues you to the seat the whole day and you wont even know how your time has gone by. After spending my parents big telephone bills and internet bills, I realized how fool I was, but I couldn?t help because those where the days, when chatting was something new and you get to meet people from different parts of the world talking everything right from Sex to Computers. I wouldn?t be ashamed to say, that even I spent during those days hours on the net to talk about love, romance and Sex. I remember one of my friend telling me that I am speaking to a very beautiful girl from London and he showed me the Picture, I was zapped because for god sake she was damn beautiful, this made me more excited and I really wanted to explore this untapped world like never before. One day, I was browsing through website and somewhere I saw the girl?s picture which my friend had showed me. I was shocked and I kept on laughing for Hours. That time I got to know that the whole chat thing is fake and nothing else. No doubt you might me true and sensible people but that would be 1 in 100. The above shock stopped me from chatting at least on MIRc.

After that came a wave called Yahoo, it swiped the entire Internet world like storm with its Yahoo Messenger. I couldn?t resist myself from using Yahoo messenger, you know why?? for more information, meet you after the break?(Sorry guys had taken money from Coke and Pepsi for their ads between my review and I am getting good Spo

My first chat on Yahoo?

The world of instant messenger has increased like anything whether you talk about Aol, ICQ(I hate ICQ) or MSN, but the most popular to hit the internet world is Yahoo and I am sure everyone of you reading my review will have yahoo messenger and would be chatting with your Loved ones, or your friends, or your office colleagues or your Client.

I started yahoo messenger when one of my American client said that why don?t we chat on yahoo because it would be feasible for both of us and we can talk in detail. That was the firs time I started talking on yahoo and I am still talking.

Yahoo Messenger?

Like most other Instant messenger, yahoo messenger is a free service provided by Yahoo Inc. For using yahoo, you need to download this software from the yahoo website, login with a user name and which would be unique and can be used for all the Yahoo services.

There are 4 different Versions available depending on your Operation System.
Windows, Macintosh , Linux and Java Based (This is useful when you don?t want to download the software, you can chat through your Browser, which should be java enabled.

· An active (free) Yahoo! Account
· Microsoft Windows 95/98/NT/2000/Me/XP
· Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 or higher

Optional

· A microphone and speakers (if using Messenger voice chat)
· A Yahoo! Messenger compliant webcam (if using Messenger webcam)

Features of Yahoo Messenger?

a. Instant Messages

This is the most prime feature of Yahoo messenger that is chatting. Instant messages are used to communicate with friends on the Internet. They are similar to email because
they consist of text that you type back and forth. However, unlike email, you don??t have to wait hours or days for an answer. As the name suggests, messages you send usually arrive instantly

Friends List?

A Friend List is a list of your co-workers, friends, family, and associates who also use Yahoo! Messenger, Yahoo! Chat, and/or Yahoo! Games. Chat with anyone on your list whenever they have their Messenger connected or are online in Yahoo! Chat or Yahoo! Games. You can have up to 100 Yahoo! IDs on your list.

Conferencing?

If you??d like to talk to multiple friends at the same time (up to 10 friends simultaneously), you can initiate a conference in Messenger. This allows you to invite friends that are online, and, unlike inviting friends to chat, your friends don??t have to be in a chat room to receive the invitation.

Voice Chat

Who would have thought that speaking to your Girlfriend/Boyfriend or your parents in USA so easy and affordable? Yahoo?s voice chat is probably the most clear voice chat. The data transfer between the voice chat is really good and the quality is of top class.

Web Cam

After voice video has to taken a further step and yahoo has done a commendable job of getting web cam in their services. It?s good to see your loved ones live in front of you. Though the relay of the video is not that good, but who cares, even a glimpse is worth a million.

Sending & Receiving Files

Sending and receiving files on the Internet was never so easy. You can send up to 1.5mb of file through yahoo messenger.

IMnvironment?

Yesterday, I freaked out on all the Yahoo IMnvironment , chatting was never so colorful. Some nice IM are, MIB, Enrique, Falling Hearts, Garfield and Yahoo Fighters.

Some other useful features are Sound Alerts, Stock & Shares alert, News, & Calendars

After a hot cup of Coffee are you ready for my remaining review(I knew most of you have felt sleepy hence the coffee to awaken your senses ;-)

Things that Irritates me?

Everything is fine and goody as of now, but there are some major problems and irritating thing in yahoo.

1. Yahoo gets disconnected quite often if you are on a proxy. They have given the technical reasons and also some helpful tips but still the problem persists. Hence if you are sending some file then your file would never reach other person.

2. If you are chatting on yahoo and your connection gets conked off and then you don?t login for another 2days, you will be seen online for most of your friends and they would scream at you that in spite of you being online you didn?t reply my message. (Probably the most Irritating thing.) For this yahoo has no answer, hence the most disappointing thing to happen.

3. Many times, it has happened that you are logged in and still your message has not reached your friend and similarly you are not able to receive his/her message.

I think so in spite of these Cons, yahoo has revolutionized the way we communicate, both their email and Instant Messenger is one of the popular and would remain the most popular service in this Internet world.
