*~*~*INTRODUCTION*~*~*

Yahoo Messenger was the first ever chat program I used, and was great too as it was easy to setup and use. It kept us in touch with family with no cost, as we were living away at the time, so we had to do something in the way of contacting family and friends instead of using the phone as it was costing us a fortune. Anyway let me tell you more about Yahoo Messenger, and what it does.

*~*~*DOWNLOADING / INSTALLING*~*~*

You can download Yahoo Messenger from their web site www.yahoo.com/co.uk it doesn?t take long to download and install; you will be using this messenger in no time at all. The download process only takes a few seconds to download depending on your internet connection, just browse to the destination on where you want to download this setup to and click ok. Once the setup as been downloaded, double click on the icon and then the installation process will begin. This will take a few seconds also, and is very easy to setup, browse to the destination to where you want Yahoo Messenger to be installed and then click ok, then that?s it your ready to get a unique id and start using messenger.

*~*~*GET A YAHOO ID / WHAT IS A YAHOO ID?*~*~*

For those people that haven?t used Yahoo Messenger before you will need to get a Yahoo ID. A yahoo ID is a nickname you want to be called on messenger, and to view by others. When the installation process has finished it will take you to the login box which there you will see get a yahoo id, click here then it will take you to a Personal account information dialog box, this is where you will add your information in order to get a yahoo id, complete the questions which are very easy and doesn?t take long, once you added your information it will then search for good id names for you to use. It will give you 3 to choose from or you can create your own.

Then you will add a password for your messenger and go through another couple of processes before you st

art to use it, but all takes about 2-3 minutes to complete if that. Once all this is completed, yahoo will check their database for the name you have chosen to see if it can be used, if it is being used then you will have to go through the process again of choosing a username, if not then you are now setup and ready to go.

*~*~*STARTING / USING YAHOO MESSENGER*~*~*

You will be stated with the login screen this is where you will put in your login and password. And then click login, you will then be taken to your contact list. The messenger is plain looking but it is skinable, which brings more excitement to this little messenger.

Let me tell you what is on your messenger itself;
You will notice at the top of messenger there are options Login, View, Tools, and Help, clicking on each of these will help you with the setting up of messenger to the way you want to use it. There are many options as there is with any chat messengers, and if you need help with anything there is a help option too. Yahoo helper shows in your contacts list and clicking on this will open up a chat box, if you type something you need help with then the robot should help you by typing back, but then I have found that if you ask him anything it doesn?t come back with any answers it just gives you help with messenger and how to do things.

If you go into Login and the preferences you will find a number of options on when to have messenger start up, what to have in your content tabs, appearance, messages here you can enable the IMViroments and also the emoticons, archive, etc etc. But all these will help in getting your messenger to how you want it, and to your taste.

Yahoo messenger is of course a free downloadable chat program to keep in touch with people you care about. It has features like IMViroments which helps to spice up the backgrounds f your message box, you can also change the background of yo

ssenger itself, but going into preferences and down to appearance, and you can download more of these features by doing a search on the internet. It is very easy and simple to use and setup, there is many things you can do using messenger like voice talk with your friends, or use web cams to see your friends and family face to face. Go into chat rooms where you could meet more people. The fun never ends.

*~*~*CHATTING TO YOUR FRIENDS / FAMILY*~*~*

It is very easy to start chatting to your buddies, all you do is double click their name in your contacts list and start typing to them. You can add a buddy to your list at anytime by clicking on the add button underneath the options bar.

The message box window is pretty plain like any other messengers you will, until you click on the IMViroments button at the bottom of your message box. Clicking here will open a drop open box with a list of backgrounds for you message window, there is quite a few to keep you going and enjoy. This makes this messenger not so plain and dull like you find with other messengers.

You don?t have to talk to you buddies by typing to them all the time, you can use web cam or voice like in most messengers, so give them fingers a rest from time to time and get used to using your voice.

You can also use yahoo chat room too, if you click on the chat button underneath the options bar, you will be offered a number of rooms to enter, click on which room you want to go into then away you go.

This messenger as improved so much since I first used it, and is a very easy and simple messenger to use. This as features with it like the IMViroments in which spices up the messenger a lot. I like using this messenger but it is a shame I don?t have many people on here to talk with. There is a few glitches with yahoo thought like when you?re logged off and people can still see you online, I used to get people leaving me
messages
to say I was ignoring them and simply being nasty with me, but I was never online, but they will still see me online. But there is more good things about this messenger than bad.
