It is not only businesses that are at risk from having their computors broken into and having information stolen, banks get hacked into more than you think but they are not going to tell you this,that they think some spotty little adolescent is peering into their finances.


BUT GUESS WHAT....YOU ARE AT RISK TOO...so read on


You have to realise that you are a challenge to a potential hacker.Alot of hackers are teenagers out to cause trouble they can download software from the net the using point and click techniques and get into your system.Luckily they usually don't know much about operating systems and configurations and don't understand how to manipulate the information that they can get hold of...STILL FRIGHTENING THOUGH.


Guess what some people just actually do this for fun!!!!!!!


Some spend all day and sometimes night trying to see if they can sneak in right past you.


Consider them if you like as burgulars....if you leave your doors unlocked and your windows open ,your money and credit cards on the table,well, then you are bound to be inviting trouble into your home.Consider this the same.If you leave yourself unprotected then you are inviting invisble burgulars onto your system...THEY CAN TELL YOU ARE NAKED.


Research also suggests that using chat rooms can actually draw the attention of potential threats to your door especially if you have created a profile which draws alot of attention ,your IP address can also be exposed.....ARE YOU STILL NAKED??????


WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE STILL NAKED.......
What can a hacker do?.....a lot of the time all they can do is detect your computor and thats all,but your computor can be vunerable to more sinister things.A Trojan c
an be planted onto your computor(often picked up with internet downloads) where it can lurk just waiting to cause its most damage.if this does happen a hacker can actually take control of you computor.


They can then do more or less what they like to your system....and even shut it down completely,don't forget that you have if you are an internet user many cookies on your system that will store some of your most vital information and maybe passwords that you use for various sites....DooYoo,Email,Internet banking.....the list goes on.


Indeed ANYTHING that you have stored on your hard drive can be detected and used.ARE YOU GETTING DRESSED YET???????

So what can you do.....its like fitting a burgular alarm really.You need to protect yourself and your privacy just like you would do for the contents of your home in which you live in.


Firstly you need to run an antivirus programme on your computor , you need to keep this regularly updated and switched on.Most viruses can be picked up and easily dealt with with something say like "Norton Anti-Virus"..NOW YOU ARE IN YOUR UNDERWEAR..


Secondly you need to install a "Firewall" TO BECOME ..FULLY DRESSED..


WHAT IS A FIREWALL?
Its a software package,that will not allow any kind of access to the internet unless you allow it to.It keeps the "nasties" out and only let in the people you know and trust.Its very straightforward to load and your computor cannot be detected by would be hackers...just like putting a padlock onto your system,at least you are safe.


Many different companies do firewall. ZONE ALARM is a free product for personal use and easy to download from the web.


Their http adress is www.zonealarm.com.It is easy to download and there is a nice help page explaining all the things it does and why you need to have a firewall at all.The step by
step instructions for putting it onto the computor are very user friendly even I understood them.

I didn't know any of the above up until a few short months ago and now I am so glad I do.I was the lucky one a friend of mine had their computor totally crashed due to this very thing....so get dressed and stay safe.


This is the worst case scenario by the way and it is easy to hype it all up,you could be scanned hundreds of times in a month but unless someone puts a really nasty virus onto your computor there is really not alot that a hacker can do to inflict any real damage but there IS ALWAYS THE RISK IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU....SO TAKE FAIR WARNING AND STAY SAFE........
