Smile are an excellent student bank. Not many people realise that they offer student banking, but they should! Its really easy to set up and use, you get a generous, interest free overdraft and a LINK card which is free to use in any cash machine. You can do banking online VERY easily, over the counter at CO-OP branches and best of all at any post office or by post. This many options is great when you are a student! The Online banking is great as a student, as much time is spent online nowadays.
The other great feature is the linked ISA - the ISA is the best I can find at 7.25% and its great for students - you can link the student and ISA accounts, so you can put your loan cheque in to the ISA, then gradually transfer it back to the student account as you need it. In this way, you can keep to a budget, and get a surprisingly large amount of interest in April (enough for several great nights out!!).
