Advantages: quite cheap entry, good tracks played, nice atmosphere

Disadvantages: drinks quite pricey, no other options!

If you are into the indie scene then you are hardly spoiled for choice if you come to Exeter as a student as I did. Although there is the Cavern, an alternative club that occasionally hosts 'indie' bands, for a regular night of indie clubbing - Timepiece on Fridays is your only option - but its not a bad option.
I must say at first I was scepticle, imagining an indie night in Exeter to feature a bit of rank old Oasis and Toploader - but in reality 'Collision' (as the night is called) is a fine combination of indie, punk and general alternative from the late 70s to the present day. Although the playlist is somewhat predictable, it is good, with band s such as the Smiths, Muse, Belle and Sebastian, the Clash, etc featuring regularly on the turntable.
The crowd on Fridays is usually made up of less pulling-obsessed elements of the student population mixed with discerning locals (including a fair load of sixth formers). There is usually some representation from Exeter's indie club 'popscene' present as well.
Timepiece drinks are not cheap, although good occasional offers may be had and entrance is only £2.50 for students.
The club is in a nice old building near on Little Castle Street and is just off the Hight Street. Indie Boys and girls of the South West: Timepiece Fridays are worth a shot.
