Advantages: Good Pay ETC ETC

Disadvantages: Some of the public are HORRIBLE

I as most people that read my opinions know work for The London Underground and what a job it is.
Working with the public everyday can be very annoying and yes you get lot's of flack especially from the suit's who seem to see us as inferior to themselves, but you do feel really good when you can so easily make somebodys day by helping them out.
You may laugh but it really is a great job and here is why -

PAY - If you start out as i did as a Station Assistant you start on £17,500 a year
To start as a Train Driver £30,000 a year.

HOLIDAY - You get 7 weeks a year holiday taken in two week blocks, possibly going up to 8 weeks soon.

HOURS - We currently do 40 hours a week but again this is possibly being dropped to 38 and a half, overtime is readily available and rest day working money is fantastic.

PROMOTION - This company really doe's encourage it's staff to further themselves just moving on to sell tickets means a £5000 pay rise and i'm going for this in a few weeks (i've only been doing the job for 3 months).
You can work your way up from grass root level to management in a couple of years if you have it in you.

PENSION - They have a pension scheme that is unbeatable and it only costs us about £49 a month.

SICK - You get paid for any sick time and they have a system that really works to find out people who try to fiddle the system.

If you are out of work and live in london then the best advice i can give you is to take a look ay their site at www.tube.com and take a look for yourself.
I have been working for them for 3 months now and i am completely happy in my work and don't feel that my career is being held up or hampered in any way.

I hope this op is relevent but i wanted to pass on my good fortune to others.
There are a number of basic test's you must take on applying and then go for training but it is worth it and like i said the thi
ngs i think are best is Money they pay,Promotional oppertunities.
So don't miss out they are still recruiting and you could go far.

I think this may be in the wrong section so maybe Dooyoo could set up a section where those who want to could give an opinion of their job's.
