I didn't mean to be rude then!!!! Our union on the Hilton campus of the University of Aberdeen is called FECSU. (Faculty of Education Commitee Student Union)

I am a recently recruited member of the student association and as I am a member of this comittee, therfore help to run the union, I feel I can give you, the readers of Dooyoo, a detailed, though not exactly impartial, review of this union. (can I also just explain that one of the guys who is a member of the SA actually speaks like this all the time and is a bad habbit I've picked up rather than the fact that I speak like this myself!!)

Righty ho then, here goes.


*****Where is FECSU??*****

FECSU is on the Hilton campus, formerly Northern College, and is upstairs in G block. (which by the way, is directly above the music department! V. good for me!!!! :) :) ) You can get to it during the day by going up the stairs inside G block (Walk in the main doors, past Costa coffee, through the doors on your left after the theatre and up the stairs).


*****Who runs it??*****

FECSU is run by the Faculty of Education Commitee. There are I think 12 of us who are on the commitee and we run the bars, thinking up different events to have on and we also work on the nights, behind the bar and in the DJ box.


*****What's there??*****

There is 1 bar called Chalkies which is fairly small and is a good place to just meet up with people and wind down, there's a games room which has a couple of pool tables and a ping pong table (I know you're supposed to call it table tennis but ping pong is sooooo much cooler!!!) and we also have a large room, almost kind of club-like (on a small scale!) where the discos are held called G-Spot.


*****What happens up there??*****

Sunday to Thursday nights Chalkies is open to chill in, with a quiz being done every Wednesday night at 10.00pm. These are good fun and are done by dif
ferent members of the commitee but be warned!! As a new member of the commitee I have noticed a pattern that the team that wins each quiz happen to be the flatmates of that evenings quiz master... hmmmm..... Friday nights are when the party starts!! G-Spot is open from 9.00pm to 2.00am and the night is called P*S**D. (guess what the missing letters are!!) This stands for Personal and Social Development and is basically a big disco whit cheap drinks promotions and lots of cheesy music!!
G-Spot is also opened on the first Wednesday of every month for a Kareoke night. These are always sooo much fun and normally attract quite a big crowd. If you do decide to come up, come early and get your songs in cos otherwise you'll find that the regulars, plus the commitee members, will never leave the stage. (All but 2 of the commitee members are music students, what do you expect???)


*****Should people come up to FECSU??*****
