pastyorf Netgear in general: ... all know the problem. Two computers, 1 Internet connection. A basic cable (I started with serial in the old days), would trail over the house. That soon was replaced with a 10/100Mbit 25meter Ethernet (That actually got ruined, someone tripped on the cable and it tore the network cards and cable apart). Fortunately, we threw out the second older computer and did not need a network for a number of years. Al...

dave27 Netgear in general
... 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Firewall Router with 4-port 10/100 Mbps switch DG834G ... now that's a bit of a bloody mouthful, and no mistake! These lovely, lovely guys certainly know what they're doing in terms of goodies. Now, goodies might be going a bit far because what they actually do is look after those weird things more generally known as THE GUBBINS which makes your system work at its best, and without which things just don't work properly, a bit like the engine in a car, when it's the driving experience you really adore rather than the engine p...

unnameable General Comments on Computer Fairs
... you can tell from my other reviews, I am somewhat of a bargain hunter.. Everything I buy is as cheap as possible! So of course, I am a regular at computer fairs. ... new looks : Ramsinks/Heatshields Most of you will know what Memory Modules look like, they are made of a number of black memory chips grouped on a green bar. Recently - and they copied this from the RIMM modules (*) - on high specification branded memory, the whole module is covered in a thin metal shield with the brand name on it. This shield, sometimes also referred to as a "RAMsink" is supposed to give better heat dissipation, allowing the memory chips to run cooler. Personally I think it is more of a marketing gimmick because with a ramsink they are supposed to look cooler too. Unfortunately this heatshield keeps you from seeing the memory chips ...
