Overview As a teacher i was given a laptop when i started working at my current school. The Acer Travelmate was the type i was given. I have to say that after almost 3 years its still going strong after what can only be described as daily battering! Speed As a primary teacher i need to keep a lot of photos on my laptop and this doesnt seen to slow it down too much. The Acer Travelmate 244LC is a very good entry level laptop. We use the 244LC for a range of tasks ranging from video and music playback to word processing applications with no problems what so ever. We bought the Travelmate 4 years ago for £799 which was good for the level of spec 4 years ago. now been around for a while my review is primarily based on the ease of maintenance and upgrade ability for anyone considering purchasing one these as a second hand laptop. General Design >>>>>>>>>>>>> The laptops are solidly built, and from experience do handle the odd knocks and scrapes fairly well. The keyboard layout is compact and well designed out for ease of use.
