Review: 1.) Windows XP:

1.1) Advantages:

1.1.1.) Windows XP is easy to install and takes only 30 minutes

1.1.2.) a very good operating system for people who never worked
with a PC before (user friendly and easy to understand)

1.1.3.) programs can be used right after installation

1.1.4.) programs are easy to install

1.1.5.) nearly every game and software can be installed on windows

1.1.6.) if you connect a new hard ware to your computer
system, drivers are detected and installed automatically

1.1.7.) documents can be copied from one place to a other by
using drag and drop


1.2)Disadvantages:

1.2.1.) Windows is not for free

1.2.2.) Windows is vulnerable to viruses , spy ware and hackers
(don't save important bank information unencrypted on your
hard drive)

1.2.3.) You need to install additional anti virus and anti spy-ware software
and also a firewall on your computer system to be safe while you
are connected to the world wide web. This programs are not
for free , so you need to spend extra money.

1.2.3.) Windows is vulnerable to system crashes like the
legendary blue screen.

1.2.4.) Programs like Microsoft Office are not included , you need
to spend some money to be able to enjoy them.

1.2.5.) The performance gets worse with every update and program
that is going to be installed on your computer system.

1.2.6.) Programs never get completely uninstalled there are
still information stored under your hard drive and in
your windows registry.

1.2.7.) The latest windows programs only run on the latest windows
version.This fact forces user most of the time to buy the
latest hardware , which is necessary to run the operating
system.

1.2.8.) There are some back doors in windows, which can be accessed
by hackers and spy-ware.



2.) Linux - Ubuntu

2.1.)Advantages:

2.1.1.) Linux is really easy to install and the installation
progress is finished after 20 minutes

2.1.2.) Linux is for free and can also be shared with friends.

2.1.3.) Linux is an Open Source , that means everybody can work
and modify the code of this operating system.

2.1.4.) You can choose which components you want to use

2.1.5.) Linux is a very safe operating system and not vulnerable
to viruses , spy-ware or hackers.

2.1.6.) Linux is not vulnerable to system crashes

2.1.7.) All Linux distributions also support older hardware.
So you can use for example your printer till it is
physically damaged.

2.1.8.) The latest Linux distributions also run with a very
good performance on old computer systems.

2.1.9.) If you want to reinstall your operating system , you
don't have install all of your current software again.
Just copy your home folder to a mass storage device
and replace the new home folder with the old one
after the installation of the operating system finished.

2.1.10.)There are no back doors in Linux


2.2.)Disadvantages:

2.2.1.) most of the newer game titles like "Tomb Raider-Underworld"
or "Halo-Wars" are not supported

2.2.2.) if you want to install a new hardware you have to search
for a suitable driver yourself

2.2.3.) most of the software titles like "Adobe Design Studios"
are not supported for Linux, you are only able to install
them with a trick.

2.2.4.) Linux is not a operating system for inexperienced users.
