Advantages: Website gives details of compatible memory, website is easy to use, friendly staff on freephone helpline

I decided that our three year old computer was in desperate need of some memory but didn't know what to look for or how to go about it. I find computer shops intimidating because I don't have the technical vocabulary to make myself clear. That was until someone recommended Crucial. It was extremely easy for a self-taught non-techie like me to find out what I needed by inserting my computer details on the website. I was then taken to a page where everything listed was compatible for my machine and all I had to do was decide how much memory I wanted to buy. I opted for the best I could afford and ordered online.

The order arrived as promised and I carefully opened the box and read through the instructions. I also revisited Crucial's website where they give very clear instructions and pictures to follow. I must admit that my computer's new memory sat on the table for a couple of days while I plucked up the courage to open up my hard drive, but three months on and I can honestly say that it's the best thing I could have done. Before I started I commented that it would either take me half an hour or three weeks to complete. I followed the instructions and inserted the memory without any problems and restarted my machine within 20 minutes. In fact, I ended up phoning the freephone hotline because it was so easy that I thought I'd done something wrong. The friendly person I spoke to talked me through how to check that the new memory had been recognised and I haven't looked back since. My experiences in installing the new memory has encouraged me to research home networking and I have now successfully networked our two home computers.
