this is the Dell Inspiron 4000 series, and what a machine this is. my model has the pIII processor and i would say this is the minimum you need for this sort of system, anything below that would make your apps run too slow. one big thing on laptops is that you should get a good manufacturer, as more will go wrong with them over time than with a conventional desktop system. this comes with all the windows apps as standard, preloaded and on cd rom. i opted for the dvd rom which is great and will play multi region movies. just load in a foreign movie and it automatically installs the driver from the dvd rom. one drawback, if you use the infared link, that is for ...

I have had a number of laptops including a Sony Vaio, and a Toshiba. Both the Sony & the Tosh were a much flashier package than the Dell, but for pure out and out day in, day out performance & reliability, the Dell takes some beating. I work for a software company, and spend my time working from home, or meeting clients to demonstrate our software. My Dell gets lugged the length and breadth of the country, and has managed to succeed where others have failed.
