Despite the scary fact that Memorex spelt backwards equals 'zero mem', the quality of their CD-R's is not poor, and most likely in line with the rest of their storage media. I recently bought a 20 (+2 free as a bonus!) pack of Memorex CD-R's (700mb/80mins/1x-24x) in slim jewel cases, and a pack of 10 colour (4 aqua, 4 flame and 2 ice at 1x-16x) ones, and thus far I have found them to be the best CD-R's yet. There isn't much difference (probably none) between CD-R's, particulary top branded ones, but in terms of aesthetic pleasure, Memorex get top marks. Yes, that's right, BLACK CDRs! The underside of the Memorex Black is, as suggested by the name, black. Just like a Sony Playstation CD. Now, for anyone thinking of backing up Playstation games onto a black CDR, let me tell you that the colour of the reflective layer doesn't actually make a difference to the encoding of the data - therefore your Playstation will still need to be chipped to play backups, even if you record onto a black CDR. Where the black CDR does have an advantage though is in the quality of reflectance. No one is going to turn down the chance of a free collection of MP3s are they? Not if they are sound of mind or like the tunes on the little silver disc. So when it comes to getting those lovely little tunes from your home PC (or work for that matter) into a format that you can play on your hi-fi, you need a good CD.
