i have to say this is one of the best pieces of PC hardware i've brought! i was looking around for a CD recorder and found this could do everything a normal copier could do plus having the ability to play DVD films. also it's the only option if you have one one drive bay in your PC case like me! i had a lot of problems getting the drive to work at first, but it turned out a piece of software was conflicting with it ( software called 'virtual drive 2000') well done to the technical support team for solving this problem for me. it's the only tech support line i've ever called that has been usefull! the drive works well at it's highest speed of 6x write and 4x re-write. the adaptec software isn't the best around, but it works well enough which is the main thing. CD-ROM and DVD-ROM operation is very good, it reads CD's at 24x speed and i noticed no difference in performance compared to my old 48x CD drive. it's also the quietest drive i've heard, only making quiet whirring noises unlike my old cd drive which sounded like a jet engine starting up! overall a very good package for the price!
