I've had my Elegance for about 10 years and have been delighted with it! It was a really modest price and has done everything I wanted it to do which was, to be honest, somewhat basic ;)
It's easy to set up, easy to use and is a neat, smart little machine, tucking easily behind my fax in the kitchen without getting in the way. I also like that the LED display is bright and large and can be seen from a distance so when I enter the house, I can see immediately if I have any messages.
Only complaint I have is that lately the incoming messages have a tendency to be distorted in patches but it IS 10 years old so perhaps it's not done so badly. So I'm now looking for a new machine and I'd love to just buy another Elegance - if only I could find one!
I bought this phone a few years ago as I wanted a cheap digital answer machine (and it was cheap!). You can record your own ring tone or select one of the more normal ones. There are mail boxes and remote access facilities which I don't think I ever used. Day to day usage is really easy - an easy to read led number shows how many messages you have. You press the play button to play them and the x button to delete them. Very easy to use. I've not had the same problem as the other reviewer with wiping the outgoing message. Now that I'm giving the phone to a friend, I can't figure out how to re-record it! I've moved house and lost the instructions. So I agree that some parts of it are not easy to use. Most settings are off the main menu button but not this one (as far as I can tell). The reason we replaced it is because the sound quality is poor. It's not always easy to hear what people are saying. Not bad for the price though.
This telephone answering machine was a present to us but I wouldn't choose this type. I do really like the design of the phone, it's black and kind of sleek. It boasts several features: 14 minutes digital recording, a pre-recorded outgoing message, do not disturb function and more. I like the simple things in life i.e: I like it to be obvious which button to press to hear my messages etc. My biggest complaint about this machine is that is is just not self explanatory enough, there is no way of working out which button does what without referring to the instruction manual (which I can never find anyway!)For example, trying to record an outgoing message was frustrating as although there is a voice prompt which will say things like: "press the menu button", it is not at all obvious from the symbols on the buttons which one that is. It took us months to find the redial button, and our outgoing messages keep getting lost by accidently pressing another button. The sound quality is not very good either, it is quite hard to catch what people are saying on messages. The phone itself is not too bad, it has a volume control on one side which is easy to press by mistake when you're on the phone - thus muting friends and relatives (can be an advantage sometimes!). We've had this phone about 18months and the connections now seem faulty. When we come to change it we will not be getting the same type.
