... fast moving as now. It is also important to say that processor speed isn't the be all and end all in terms of performance. A 1.2Ghz Athlon is faster than a 800Mhz Athlon, but a 1.8Ghz Pentium is not necessarily faster than a 1.4Ghz Athlon. Different processors have different architectures, and this can affect performance. So what's the future got in store? As they say, the future's bright, at lea st in the short term. In the ...more

I don't claim to be any expert on the future of the processor market, but saying as I was the one who suggested this category I feel pretty obliged to write on it, especially saying as no-one else has!! So processors - getting pretty darn fast aren't they!! 2Ghz is about the current fastest speed, except of course you happen to read this in about 3 months when no doubt we'll be closer to 3Ghz. Anyway, before I go any further, for all the non-computer fanatics (i.e. the sane ones) you may indeed be wondering what I mean when I say 2Ghz. The Ghz bit gives the speed of the processor, although until recently this was more commonly given in Mhz. ...  Read the complete review
