I have had the Toshiba Satellite L30-113 laptop for 2 years now and it has worked well. I bought it because it was a good offer at PC world for a laptop of that spec. It is not flashy but looks smart in black. The screen is good and clear and bright. The Toshiba onscreen startup processes are a bit longwinded and there is more waiting around for things to load than I would like. It has Vista preinstalled which takes up quite a lot of the HDD space and contributes to the waiting around. I would have preferred XP. The build quality of this laptop is reasonably good, with no bit s falling off and it all appearing to be in one (relatively) solid piece. Having a 15.4 inch widescreen display, which is common in laptops nowadays, means that this is by no means a portable machine, although Toshiba appear to have tried to reduce the size with no overly large border around the display which would add unnecessary bulk.
