Unbranded Memory in General

Newest Review: ... don't and if they don't work, you just return them under warranty to the shop and ask for a new one. Your PC-system plainly refusing to boot (start up) or frequent blue screens in any of the MS-Windows operating systems are common indications that your memory is faulty. However, as there is always a downside to everything, unlike unbranded, branded memory modules are made up of selected memory chips and will have gone through far more thourough testing than unbranded ones. This is because certain chips even from the same "bakery" have higher tolerances than others. Also and this is something not dealt with in the opinion... more

Crowned Review Unbranded Memory in General: Throw 'em, rope 'em and brand them (1522 words)

The new looks : Ramsinks/Heatshields Most of you will know what Memory Modules look like, they are made of a number of black memory chips grouped on a green bar. Recently - and they copied this from the RIMM modules (*) - on high specification branded memory, the whole module is covered in a thin metal shield with the brand name on it. This shield, sometimes also referred to as a "RAMsink" is supposed to give better heat dissipation, allowing the memory chips to run cooler. Personally I think it is more of a marketing gimmick because with a ramsink they are supposed to look cooler too. Unfortunately this heatshield keeps you from seeing the ...  Read the complete review

I must be mad to try to write an opinion on Ram (Random Access Memory) as my first opinion on Dooyoo. What do you say about computer memory, most people don’t care, they just switch on the computer and “hey presto” it works. Well let me explain what the Ram does and why I recommend using “Unbranded” Ram. The Ram in the computer is the memory that runs the programs that you choose to use at any one time that is stored on your Hard Drive. Basically, it’s the virtual memory. Any program that you choose to run that is stored on your Hard Drive is transferred across to the Ram and that is the memory that you use whilst using ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Unbranded Memory in General: adding memory yourself (396 words)

when i first got my pc it seemed so fast compared to what i had seen before. it had 128k memory which seemed like a whizz at doing tasks. however........(cue ominous black storm clouds) it soon became apparent that just basic functions were becoming a bind , as i added more features and programmes i frequently had the screen freezing up , or messages that there was unsufficient memory to complete an operation. i was planning on buying a rewriter, so i thought that maybe i should be thinking about making the pc operate a little easier before hand, to elimenate it freezing mid copy. i had a look at the computers manual and it said you just had to unclip ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Unbranded Memory in General: Nump up the Ram (299 words)

Want to improve the performance of your computer? Then, adding more RAM will certainly set you on the way! RAM stands for Random Access Memory, and it's function is very simple. All of the programs you have on your computer are stored on these RAM boards, which are attached to your motherboard. Basically, the more programs you have will make your system run slower, simply because it takes the computer more time to search through all the files you have. Take the example of a librarian being asked to search for a book beginning with the letter B. The more books in the library that begin with the letter B, the longer it will take for the Librarian to find ...  Read the complete review
