      • "Only comes with one blank CD"

Unlike other brands <cough Creative>, the Yamaha CRW8824SZ doesn't destroy CD after CD. Nor does it explode within your computer. Or give off gases containing high levels of arsnic. Some of you might be tempted to buy already, but there's more. Coupled with free software and a decent quality CD-RW disk, this CD-RW drive does exactly what is says on the box - burn CDs quickly, efficiently and without any fuss. Installation is fairly painless, in fact it involves the same amount of skill required to fit a standard CD-ROM drive. Naturally the drive comes with all the correct cables to turn your PC into a CD-burning machine within minutes. An important feature in many of today's CD writer drives is the ability to back up games, data, and music CDs. Not all drives can do this <cough Creative>, due to poor quality components. Yamaha has made a name for itself in the world of backup, as not only will the drive read stubborn disks, but it'll copy them too. And yes, this includes PSX disks, PC games and albums fom HMV. The drive's facia isn't your average CD-ROM tray front. An attractive yet unusual shaped tray front is placed neatly in the centre of the drive (as you'd expect!) and you're provided with the usual features - a headphones socket, a volume control, the eject button and two lights each with two functions: On/Disk inserted, Read/Write. To conclude, the Yamaha CRW8824SZ is a quiet, fast and efficient drive for all your CD burning needs - if you're in the backup business or need a reliable writer, this one needs to be taken into consideration.

YES THIS Yamaha screams BUY ME BUY ME! And I did. I love the fact that its 8 write 8 rewrite and 24 read but all because its SCSI. Small Computer Systems interface if you didn't know. It means that with this you can burn and surf the net or do other things with it. As it’s not on your PCI bus and slowing it down so your burn fails. It has a 4mb buffer and burns everything you throw at it. It’s quick. You may get other faster reading speeds out their but its not that relevant. You will have at least a 40x CD room or DVD ROM. Theirs not much else I can say. It looks like any other piece of kit. Beige but you buy for functionality not so that it has IKEA design in it! The tray comes out quick, which is good. Its not the newest and fastest anymore but its still good. I’ve had it for about a year. Its quick does the job well and the supplied software is good. You get one Yamaha CDR and one very good quality Yamaha CR RW that is 8x speed. If you’re not so bothered about the speed you can get now give this a go it’s cheaper then the newer ones but for that it is slower. You can get up to 16x speed now. But for that you would have to get better quality CDR media. I got mine and I am very happy with the performance it has given me. You do need to install a SCSI card though if you don’t have one which about 95% of people don’t have. Get this one its good! ^_^
