This feels comfortable in the hand although, as we don’t carry ours around much, I can’t tell you whether this is particularly durable or not. 4/5 (one point lost due to cassette controls being somewhat confusing) ~~ RADIO ~~ The tuner will accept MW 530 – 1,710 kHz through the built in antenna. There’s also a rod antenna attached to the back that will take in FM 87.5 – 108.0 MHz. The set will also take in LW 153 – 288 kHz, although th...more

Premium Review Aiwa in general: Aiwa XP-MP3, successful combination of mp3 and cd players (632 words)
by - written on 03/03/01 (Very useful, 229 readings)

The Aiwa XP-MP3 is a mix between a portable CD-player and an MP3-player, since the features of a common CD-player tend to be well known I will mainly mention the MP3 functions. Most common MP3 players tend to use memory cards, the advantage of this player however is that instead of memory cards it uses ordinary writable (or rewritable) CD's. The advantage to using these is fairly obvious, rather than a high cost of 60+ pounds for a simple 16MB card you can buy a typical CD-R with 700MB for around 80p. This means that rather than only being able to store 5 around 5 tracks at once you can instead store up to 512 tracks on a CD, which (depending on the ...  Read the complete review

[Note: This opinion describes the AIWA CSD TD24 rather than Aiwa in General. Sorry, but it doesn’t have a category of its own and it's impossible to get new ones posted these days] ~~~~~~~~~ “I’d like to teach the world to sing, in perfect harmony – I’d like to hold it in my arms….”. Sorry. Radio 2 y’know. Eeek! I’ve turned into my mother! I can remember very clearly telling my mum that old fuddy-duddies were the only people who listened to Radio 2 and come what may, I would ALWAYS listen to Radio 1. But alas, Tony Blackburn, David Hamilton, Noel Edmonds, Rosko and all the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Aiwa in general: The Ultimate Aiwa Portable CD Player (305 words)

This is the ideal sports-persons equipment. Someone has the Aiwa XP-SP911 Portable and I want it. The previous model to this is lame compared to this...but what do I know about the previous model, i've never come across it. However compared to other CD players this is pretty tasty. Not only is it water-proof it's also sand sweat and dirt proof. It has this unique rubber gasket that keep it in shape. And what's better is that the headphones are also water resistant. There is no problem taking it out jogging or even a 100m sprint. It has an electronic anti-skip system that buffers motion to minimize skipping and if you combine that to ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Portable MP3-CD Player - PLAYS 11 hours!!! (218 words)
by - written on 03/08/00 (Useful, 193 readings)

In the back of NME magazine, I saw an advert which I simply could not believe.... a portable CD player which plays MP3's on a CD-r!! What that means is that you can have up to 11 (yes, ELEVEN) HOURS of perfect quality CD music playing from MP3's - that means you can make MP3's of all your favourite CD's, burn it onto a blank CD and then play away. It only costs £125 (British) ex. VAT, or £155 including VAT, which I think is very reasonable for something that will play so many hours of music! Although I have not actually bought the player (yet) I contacted the company who's website can be found at www.ntrac.co.uk asking him how long ...  Read the complete review
