Advantages: Plays CD-R/W, good anti-shock system
Disadvantages: Not available from High St. stores
This is the ideal sports-persons equipment. Someone has the Aiwa XP-SP911 Portable and I want it. The previous model to this is lame compared to this...but what do I know about the previous model, i've never come across it. However compared to other CD players this is pretty tasty. Not only is it water-proof it's also sand sweat and dirt proof. It has this unique rubber gasket that keep it in shape. And what's better is that the headphones are also water resistant. There is no problem taking it out jogging or even a 100m sprint. It has an electronic anti-skip system that buffers motion to minimize skipping and if you combine that to it's already 48-second anti-shock buffer then you have a CD player that plays fluently all the time. Intructions say playback lasts 30hrs, on a fresh set of batteries, that is. I have EverReady Recharable batteries and they seems to last around 4hrs. I'm not too sure whether it's the batteries or the player but no way does it last 30hrs even on a new pair of Duracle. What I thought was one of the best features was that it reads CD-R/W. Those who compile music know that all CD players play CD-Recordables but not CD ReWritables. Not even a standard PC with a CD players reads them. Because the XP-SP911 does it means you can compile you music/audio onto a CD-R/W and later on delete the music and then put new ones on. Great stuff. It's unfortunate that some of the best products around are not available from High St. store, only from specialist shops. If you're in London Tottenham Court Road is a good place to look.
