Advantages: Ccheap, great picture and sound and it's multi-region
Disadvantages: Avalible only in Debenhams not in Edinburgh branch :¬(
I have been wanting a DVD player for a while now and after reading a review in Stuff magazine about the best buget DVD'd I was ready to spend £200 on what will probably become one of the most popular DVD's on the market. The Lecson DVD900 was not also awarded 5 stars out of five and Editors Choice from Suff, What Hi-FI also gave it 5 stars. The player is exclusive to Debenhams UK and has everything you could get from a DVD player. The Lecson has multi region capability that needs to be 'hacked'. The code is identical to the Warfdale D750 as the same company supplied the core parts. This works as I have Gone in 60 Seconds R1. The Lecson also plays CD-R, CD-RW and VCD discs. An optical digital out is included as is an inbuilt Dolby Digital decoder (so you don't have to buyt a convertor). The Lecson also features RGB (better picture) and DTS(the latest surround system) outputs. From what I have seen the picture quality is comparable to a DVD at £300 and sound quality is fine. Playback of audio CD's is great in my mind and I will be using it as a future CD seperate when I get the rest of the bits. Also I have noticed that as Watchdog were right, the software is way ahead of the hardware. The player is avalible in larger stores only (not Edinburgh) had to make a trip to Glasgow, there store is HUGE!

- 16/07/01 Good op, I think it's worth updating older ops frequently so that people see quality when they visit your profile
