Advantages: Minidiscs
Disadvantages: Mp3 Players
There are two clear advantages to the minidisc above the mp3 player. 1. You can put any format onto minidisc, CD, tape, record, mp3, midi, anything using the line out (digital or analogue) from the device or computers sound card. Whereas mp3 players only allow mp3s to be downloaded onto them. 2. I get my blank minidiscs for 79p and I have about 40 all with albums on, with I can simply select when I'm going somewhere so I can take a lot of albums with me cheaply. Now the last time I checked a 32Mb memory stick for an mp3 player cost at least £20. Now I can fit 74mins onto a MD, so if we take the mp3 as being about 128kb/sec quality (that equals roughly 1Mb per minute) you can get 32mins on the memory stick. In my opnion 64kb/sec is as low as you can afford to go before you compromise the quality of the music, so maximum of 64mins of music for £20. Now personally I think, if only because of those two points, that I'd perfer a Minidisc everytime. The minidisc I'd recommend is the Sony MZ-R55 very good quality and has all the features you could want.

write em on to a CD D D D D D D! (though its not cheap as you'd know CJ)
the CD is king - better sound quality than everything else as no compression is used at all on recording. I love CDs but they do have flaws as does every audio medium!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!
