I have to admit I am actually quite surprised at the amount of people praising Minidisc players, I can rarely find people who support them. I own a Panasonic SJ MJ 70 portable MD player, I paid 200 pounds for it a year ago when it was the smallest on the market. I also bought a CD/MD deck to record the Minidiscs, for another 200 pounds. ...  Read the complete review

Personally I would go for minidisc every time. With minidisc there is no need to upload new tracks every time to the player you want to change what you are listening to, you can simply change the disc in a matter of seconds and have another 80mins of different music. If you are going on holiday, you can only take 60mins with you if you ...  Read the complete review

I'm surprised this debate has gone on as long as it has... There is simply no contest in the war of MD v MP3... mp3's. true, they don't jump, but I have never heard my MD skip... jogging, cycling, whatever... Secondly, You can record mp3s to MD, but not the other way round. Thirdly, MDs are technically ...  Read the complete review

I have experimented with both Mp3 and Minidisc formats in my time and when it comes to this argument surely it is plain to see that Minidisc is the better option? I mean, most people will agree that lots of people with Mp3s on their computers will want to play them on the move right? So why go to the expense of an Mp3 player (which at the ...  Read the complete review

Minidisc vs MP3? I'll take a CD over both of them any day but there are good points with both of these newer formats. Minidisc: Still a fairly new format and appears to have been accepted with mixed feelings. Sales of pre-recorded minidiscs are low, just look in any of your local music stores, some of them won't even ...  Read the complete review

If you read a review that says MP3 cannot compare to MD then you've been misled. You have to remember that MP3 has only been around for 2 years, and the big companies with the big research money have only been interested in the last year. MD have been around for a lot longer than people realise, I can remember going into a Sony ...  Read the complete review

Minidisc is without doubt a great format, but then so is MP3, so which will win in the new battle of portable music?, or is there a place for both?? Lets start with mini disc's. The advantages are clear, re-recordable mini cd's which are cheap easy to use and in effect offer unlimited storage. The units are small and vitually ...  Read the complete review

It is difficult to directly compare MP3 with MiniDisc because, despite seeming similar as technologies, their usage has grown to be very different. When MiniDisc was launched, it was hailed as the replacement for tapes and Cds full stop. This optimistic prophesy never came true. Despite having a moderate range of albums released on its format, ...  Read the complete review

For those that don’t know, MP3 is basically a memory card that you can download digital music to and from. Mini Disc is a miniature CD (approximately 3 inches across) with the advantage of being more durable, and also recordable. The music is compressed in order to fit onto the smaller size disc and this causes it to have a slight loss ...  Read the complete review

OK MD v MP3. I don't actually own an MP3 player, but I do own several MD units: main recorder in the hi-fi; portable "walkman" type for holidays and an in-car player. And for me, there is my main argument: portability. My disks can be swapped with ease between all three units. To my knowledge, no in-car MP3 players yet exist, and it ...  Read the complete review

I believe that MD is infinitely better than MP3, my reasons are as follows: Firstly, a £200 MD is streaks better than a £200 MP3 player for sound quality. Also MD players might as well be MP3 players as you can quite easily get a MP3 on to a MD whereas MP3 is restricted to MP3's only. There are two ways to do this, one is ...  Read the complete review

In my view, there can be no disputing between whether a minidisc or a MP3 player is better. That is because the minidisc is so versitile, it can do everything a MP3 player does and more! For example, if you love getting free songs off the internet, you can always transfer it onto a minidisc player with as little hasle as transferring your music ...  Read the complete review

I love my minidisc player, even if it's broken at the minute because I dropped it. Whenever I download mp3s, I record them onto my minidiscs, so I have a permanent copy of them, should, heaven forbid, my hard drive pack up or my computer explode. It's much easier to have everything on Minidisc because it saves the hassle ...  Read the complete review

In the race of the digital formats come MP3 and minidisk . Minidisk as a media but with MP3 being a single file format that has probably got more recognition than any other . Well the ongoing war between minidisc and MP3 is turning out to be something of a ‘battle royal’ and nobody is sure who is going to win. The music industry seem firmly set on minidisk and show a sense of loathing towards anything that is MP3, however it is undoubted that after they have finished with Napster, (a service that I ...  Read the complete review

Before you can compare MP3 and Mini Discs you need to recognize that it is like comparing pictures with video tape or words with books. MP3 is a format, a way of doing things, while MD is an a way of realizing a format. Words are but together to represent ideas and can be stored in books. The data in an MP3 represents sounds which can be stored ...  Read the complete review

In my eyes MP3's are much better because at the moment they are free. But in the future I also think they will be better, not because they are free but because they are more useful. The age of disc and cds is over, the internet is now in. Soon you will be able to go into an online store and pay to download an MP3 of the latest song. This is ...  Read the complete review

When I was thinking of getting an MP3 or MD player, I looked at both. The reason that I decided on getting an MD player is the discs. My laptop has almost no space on it's hard drive, and having an MP3 player would mean storing my music on my computer. I looked to see if there were any players with discs, but the only thing available was a ...  Read the complete review

Mp3 vs minidisc? well for me it is obvious. Mp3 is superior to minidisc. Reasons? 1. Mp3 players are smaller. 2. Minidisc tapes cost alot. 3. Mp3 players are cheaper. 4. Mp3 players have no moving parts. 5. You don't have alot of discs cluttering up your house (you just keep your library on your computer and choose what tracks you feel like ...  Read the complete review
