Advantages: Some good value mixers
Disadvantages: Generally overpriced
Well, where do I start?
The problem is that Gemini don't really fit into any group. They are not like the Soundlabs: cheap but what you expect.
They are not your technics: good when they came out but a tad outdated.
They arent your vestax: expensive but worth it. They certainly aren't Numark: high quality at low prices...
Thus is the problem.
The lower bits of their range are alright, as the cheap decks (pt500 or 1000) are alright as they are fairly reasonibly priced. However, there new deck is not only a blatent rip off of Numark and Vestax technology, but they are also highly overpriced. In short, they are a tin can decorated.
Their mixer range is actually fairly good. For example, their PS626 was the best selling mixer a few years back. However, I think that if Gemini are to be a successful alternative to any other company they should chose their market more specifically.

sldetackle - 26/09/01 I would like to agree with you on the opinions about the Gemini mixers. The mixers in Gemini's line up are priced exactly for the quality you recieve, and in some cases a good value (PS525-626). I think that the one thing you overlook, however, is that while the newer decks(such as the PT2410's that I am currently using) do have technology from other companies that developed it first, they are VERY good decks and can be found for a good price if looked for at the right place. (I paid a mere $600 total for both, brand new, online at discount retailer). |
