Advantages: Free, customisable, useful!
Disadvantages: Hardly anything new.
For those of you that aren't aware, Virgin Mobile has recently changed its Xtras. The old Xtras still exisit, but Virgin Mobile customers can, at www.vxtras.com, sign up for personalised SMS alerts. Services include football news and results, music charts, horoscopes, music charts, alerts when major music releases occur and such like. You can sign up for the whats on at your local cinema, very very useful! It's all free, so you can't complain! Although saying all that, there is not a lot of difference between myalert.com and VXtras, so I wouldn't recommend changing networks purely for VXtras. It's a nice addition! Virgin also have updated their WAP site, for if you have a WAP compatible phone. The choices are the same as for text alerts, but you get it all in greater detail...

- 31/01/01 No probs. The other Xtras are preloaded numbers you can call, most costing 10p per minute. There is a 'shop' where you can buy highstreet electrical goods with excellent discounts, a travel area where you can book Virgin trains and planes etc, and get travel news. There is a music section where you can listen to songs of your choice and buy them at a discounted price or listen to Virgin Radio. A going out section that can tell you whats on where and a satying in section, with information about hots videos to rent, whats on TV etc. Shop, going out, travel, and staying in are all operator based. |

- 30/01/01 nice piece of news but what about all these other xtras you talked about, mentioning those would really up the grade on this. |
