Advantages: Entertaining and inovative

Disadvantages: Dooyoo really need a logo on your phone?

I’ve discovered that I am a member of a new “underclass”.
No, I have not become homeless, although I have been there, so I feel no guilt about using the ‘u’ word.

No, my much more ‘light hearted’ claim is related to my recently acquired mobile phone.
Do you have one? Are you one of the new ‘underclass’ too?

Last time I looked at the statistics, I believe the figures presented showed that around 70% of the population own a mobile phone. However, what the statistics don’t tell you is that unless you have the ‘right’ mobile phone, you will be unable to view trendy logos - such as the one offered by dooyoo - or hear oh-soo-trendy jingles and pop tunes which are on offer to the ‘chosen few’.
Own the ‘right’ mobile and you are ‘quoted’, with company after company offering you the choice of what appears to be ‘thousands’ of quaint little ‘piccies’ of you favourite places or ‘sooper dooper’ songs from your favourite people.
These advertisments are possibly at the root of my negative opinion, as they are everywhere the ‘excluded’ person looks. There are columns and columns of them in the media and the way things are shaping up, it won’t be long till they are rivalling the ‘Wonderbra’ advertisements on billboards on every street corner.

When I first took delivery of my mobile (a Phillips) I had no idea that it would lead to my becoming ‘excluded’ from the mainstream of everyday life, but it seams I was being a little naive.

Whether or not I actually *want* to be ‘included’ is another thing entirely.
What really bugs me is the way in which these mobile phone logo and jingle suppliers seem to have taken it upon themselves to be the ‘dictators of fashion’ and in such an uninvited manner.

OK, so
they are probably coining it in, but how?
Are there really soo many people out there desperate enough to cough up a £1 for a jingle?
If there are (and it would appear that there are) then what does that say about the society that we live in?
GG

PS
I'll be glad of any comment you want to make about my opinion, -
Just make them clean and be sure and rate it too.

Thank you for your position statement. I side with you. Often wondered what social engineering is about. It seems to be in full swing now. They easily manipulate those who "have no face-to-face fear with God, but do fear when they come face to face with others" (the majority).

Thank you all for your comments
I don't mind not having the latest of anything,
you get used to it after the first twenty years ;-)

These logos, jingles etc are only available with Nokia at the moment (they started off the changeable covers as well, but now one or two more companies do that!). As I would never have another Nokia even if I were paid, I reassure myself in pitying the people who feel they need these things!!!! A mobile phone should make calls, ring when you have a call, and write messages. Anything else, well, it's a personal decision, but don't feel worse, feel better because you haven't jumped on the bandwagon.. it's soo passe now! Be different! Interesting opinion though!! Thanks
