Advantages: Indispensible in emergencies
Disadvantages: So over used.
We eventually got a mobile phone eighteen months ago. We have it on a monthly contract, which costs £15 a month, for this we get 30 mins of phone calls. Each month we make between 15 - 20 mins and waste the other 10. Yes I know we should change the contract or tarrif, but then there is the nusicience of changing numbers etc. I also believe that the mobile has been well marketed and promoted, but at the end of the day you can ring people and they can ring you. There is no need for a choice of daft ringtunes, if I want to play gmes I would use a gameboy. I dont care how many different coloured cases and flashing ariels I can choose from. The advantages of a mobile phone are for emergencies, when travelling or when alone. However most of the emergencies for some have now trangressed to questions like" Was it single or double cream, love?" Useful, perhaps, but how did we ever manage before! To conclude, mobiles have been greatly hyped and marketted and can be indispensible, however the masses are running up huge bills on calls and designer add ons, while the marketing staff are gleefully preparing the next must have accessory.
