Advantages: none

Disadvantages: lost phone and credit

Beware of phantom credits to your mobile phone. I had a BT cellnet phone, and one day up came the message, 'call credit accepted', as I hadn't credited the phone, I was surprised. When I looked at the credit amount, I was even more surprised. £100.00 had been added to my account! I thought that when the person who had credited it to their phone noticed that it wasn't on their phone, that BT Cellnet would take it off of mine. About 6 months later, my phone was cut off. When I finally got to speak to someone about it, I was told that the £100.00 had been fraudulently credited to my account using a credit card number, and the person whose credit card it was had complained. Therefore my phone was cut off as I had misused my phone.

I protested that I hadn't done it, and in fact the phone was £115.00 in credit, so couldn't they just take the £100 back? But to no avail.

So because someone missdialed when they used someone elses credit card to add credit to their phone, I was accused of doing it, and lost my phone, and the £15 that I was in credit.

So, if a credit misteriously appears on your phone, either tell them, or use it up and be prepared for the phone to be cut off! Don't leave it on there and wait for them to take it back (like a bank would) or you will lose out.

I will never use a BT Cellnet phone again.

Maybe if the phantom credits were usd up, the company would try to get the money back through legal action.
