I suppose like a lot of people I don't admit to watching too much television. However, when our old Hitachi finally collapsed in a puff of smoke and wouldn't function any more I soon made sure I bought a replacement. Just for my wife, of course! She likes a couple of the soaps and I do 'sometimes' watch the sport. I went for another Hitachi, primarily because the old one had given us such excellent service. I went for a 28", wide screen model with a 3DS Spatial Sound system. Well it impressed my wife, but quite honestly I wasn't absolutely sure what it meant. I have since learnt, after using the television and ... Read the complete review

Maybe you`ll find this useful. 21(1980)years ago, when moving in my house, I went out shopping for a TV. With no real experience in what was a good buy, and not a load of money, I went in a TV shop. The man serving was late 50`s, I asked him,`what is the most reliable TV you have, I don`t want one that will break down next year?` He told me, in all the years he had worked in the shop, he couldn`t remember one complaint about Hitachi....he wasn`t trying to sell me one as there were loads of TV`s a lot more expensive in the shop.....so I looked about, & decided to take his word for it, it wasn`t too expensive, & I chose the cheapest Hitachi in the shop. ... I am currently renting my Hitachi 28" Nicam Television and I am very happy with it (touch wood!) Each time a new model comes out I am able to upgrade to the newer one. The picture is very sharp and the Nicam sound is second to none. I must admit to not being too keen on the Hitachi name as I've had a couple of products with their name before, but the television is great, unlike the Hitachi Nicam video recorder which I am also renting! The remote control is very easy to work with all the necessary buttons to hand. It has fastext, meaning that you can often use coloured buttons to reach a teletext page. The instruction booklet is very clearly set out, ... Read the complete review

We bought the above TV (28" wide screen Nicam Dolby suround)back in March 2000, as we thought it was about time for us to get onto wide screen and to replace our still hard working over 8 years old 20" JVC. We had a good package deal of £655 for the TV and the Nicam VCR. At the time this was the most competitive deal we could find for a comparable product. The TV came with its own cabinet stand and the other plus point for us was the closable glass door to keep an adventurous toddler's fingers away from the video. Setting it up was straight forward. A few days after we installed it we realised that it was not as good ... Read the complete review

I am the prowd owner of a hitachi 28 inch wide screen TV with nicam Digital stereo sound. i have had my tv for about 3 months now and think it's great. the picture quality is one of the best i have seen and the sound is loud and crisp at the same time. The tv has a philips tube in it. The menu system for setting up it is easy to use and on screen displays can eather be in solid background of transparent. it has three scart sockets on the back and front AV and s-video connecters. it came complete with a stylish wooded stand which was easy to put together.
