Advantages: Looks Good, Plenty Inputs, Great Quality Picture And Sound, Low Price.
Disadvantages: None With the Television Itself, But HDTV's Can Be Annoying When Watching Older Programmes.
I've never reviewed a television before but i'm so chuffed with mines that i just have to give you a little heads up on this great product.
as it states above it's a Hitachi 37" LCD running at the not so shabby 1080p True HD.
I bought mines from amazon.co.uk and at the time i payed £670 for it which i reckon was a very reasonable price for a higher resolution set.
The design is sleek black with a silver panel running along the base where the built in speaker set is, mostly all of the inputs and controls are hidden in the back apart from the buttons on the side which are quite well blended in and barely noticeable.
compatibility wise the television is also awesome with many input options, there are multiple scart and hdmi inputs as well as the rgb input if you wanted to hook up your computer monitor to the television! (which i've done a couple of times and it looks pretty sweet!.)
i currently do not subscribe to any HDTV channels so i watch most of my progs in standard def, however some channels and programmes make me think that they have been shot in HD as they look pretty sweet, the only downside is when watching something thats a little dated it tends to macro block and the television trys to compensate for a lack of colour detail by filling in the blanks itself, which can be irritating as the screen goes pixelly.
but we're talking quality here not compatibility and when combined with my sony ps3 that i reviewed previously this is where this set outdoes itself.
watching a blu-ray disc on this is sweeter than honey, water, light effects and everything else just jump out at you and if you decide to buy one you'll spend a while getting used to it as you are mesmerised by the detail and quality of the picture, the onboard speakers are also pretty good and you get a great sound out of them at a low level.
menu navigation and setup is also easy accessed and simple enough to use, takes a wee while to get used to it like anything else but once you have it sussed it's plain sailing.
I can't really think of anything else to say about this apart from the fact that it is quite heavy, so if you are single you might want to rethink buying a 37" as you may struggle to move it yourself.
Like most televisions this set also has built in freeview so you can access channels like bbc3, film 4 etc without the extra cost of having to buy a set top box or subscribe to a sattelite / cable service.
All in all an excellent buy and i would definately recommend it to anyone looking to buy an lcd, it's a decent size for any living room (it's bigger than you expect so unless you live in a mansion then you don't neet any bigger) and it's also great quality at a low price.
If you like to recieve maximum bang for your buck, then you cant go far wrong with this set.
Summary: A Bargain For What It Cost, Great Compatibility And Excellent Quality For A Reasonable Price.
