Advantages: Great picture & sound quality
Disadvantages: None
My Dad recently decided that we needed a new TV for our living room. We did have a 37 inch Sony which was great & did us well for a couple of years but as we had had our living room decorated he decided to change the TV as well.
I looked extensively on the internet & in the shops with him & while in Currys we saw this Samsung 40 inch, HD ready. At the time of being in the store the TV was on sale for £899 but the store assistant told us to shop around on the internet & we could get it for at least £100 cheaper & guess what... we did!
We eventually found it on many websites for £799 & it was on Comet website for this price. We had previously bought items for Comet before both online & in store & we had never had any difficulties with them before so we though we'd buy it. There was no need to look at it in store again as when in Currys we had an extensive look & we liked it a lot. The price was brilliant for such a great TV.
My Dad decided to buy it online as there were some special offers available with it such as a Samsung Blu-Ray DVD player for £179.99 which is a saving of £20. Not a lot but when you're spending £800 on a TV every penny you save is appreciated! There was also a stand on offer, we did have a stand with our old Sony TV but we felt that it wouldn't really match as it was a clear one & a bit small so the TV would be hanging off the edge slightly. The stand we decided upon was the Kenmark stand which is for a 40 inch TV. It was on offer £79.99 which again is a saving of £20. Also on the Comet website was the option of a home-cinema system which we were really tempted to buy however at £269.99 is a bit expensive. Of course you can get cheaper ones but this isn't really a necessary purchase unless you really want one or have a huge living room!
Delivery was free & everything came within the 2 weeks that they said it would. The delivery men were very nice & helpful & set up the TV for us which only took 10 minutes, however they're of course used to it! I would recommend you get the delivery men to set it up for you just so you don't make any mistakes if you're not much of a technical person like I'm not!
The TV looks great, it's a really nice looking set. I especially like the hint of red around the edges, infact it's one of the things that attracted me to it when I first saw it in the showroom. The controls are extremely easy to get used to however of course if you have Sky or Sky HD like we do then you wont even need the TV control which of course is a bonus as I much prefer the Sky HD control.
The picture on this TV is absolutely fantastic, our last TV was also HD ready but the picture was nothing compared to what it is on this TV. Then you go onto the HD which are of course better quality & unlike some TV's you can totally tell the difference between regular viewing & viewing in HD!
One thing about this TV that we didn't have with our previous TV is the Freeview channels which is a nice feature however if you have Sky it's a little unnecessary. It's nice to have though if you ever need it for any reason.
We've had this TV for a couple of months now & we have had no problems with it whatsoever. I'd recommend this television to anyone. The price is brilliant compared to a lot of the TV's currently available & for such a great TV it's a bargain. The picture is absolutely brilliant, a lot better than I was expecting. I was already used to watching things in HD so I didn't think it would make much of a difference but it does & I'm really impressed. It still impresses me now!
The service from Comet was brilliant, the men were friendly & efficient & arrived exactly when they said they were going to. I really can't praise this TV or the service enough.
Summary: A brilliant bargain
