This steamer has made making meals for my 8 month baby so much easier and it has helped my husband and i als oadapt to a healthier lifestyle. The way it is specifically excellent for my wee one is that the water left over is just so packed full of nutieints and gets used in the pureeing or i use it for his juice - if i have been steaming fruits for him - as he just loves it and you know it is just so natural with no preservatives. In a world where deep fat frying is everywhere it is so easy to staem a chicken breats and veg and have a healthy family meal. Steaming your food is the best way to cook. It is healthier because you do not need to use any fat. It keeps the flavour and colour, far better to steam that broccoli instead of boiling it to death in a pan of water, it is always mushy when it is boiled I think. This steamer is great for the average family because of its size. It has two steaming compartments, and a special rice tray. It is oval in shape so I find it handy for fitting fillets of fish in and cuts of meat. Healthy low fat food seems to be the order of the day at the moment, although healthy is not so important just 0% fat. Don't ask me why, it just is. Given one of these as a present, I had never tried steaming before apart from a collander over a pan of water for asparagus, fish and brocoli. Opening the box, you have the base electrical unit, two oval stackable tiers and a 'rice' bowl. Included is a recipe book and estimated cooking times chart for meat, veg and deserts.
