Crowned Review Microwaves in General: The perfect cooker partner (796 words)

Who can remember when microwaves first appeared ? Bulky , noisy and limited in operation , with so very few products available to buy , specificially for them. Now-a-days , most prepared frozen meals are microwave and oven cookable , if not simply microwave cookable only , and for most people a microwave has become a necessity to life itself. Furthermore , manufacturers have long since lost that boring tab , and todays microwaves are aesthetically pleasing to the eye and kitchen space. So here goes with a review of my current ( and widely available ) piece of necessity. ~0~ LG Electronics - Intellowave MS195US microwave oven ~0~ With our ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review LG Electronics MC-806BL combination microwave oven (1102 words)

When we bought our house we acquired (as you often do) quite a few second hand items. One of which was a microwave, which I am informed, was about ten years old at the time (They made them to last back when I were a girl...). Well about five years later this trusty microwave went POP! We had been planning to get a new one for about ummm...five years, but as this one was working we just kept putting it off. So now that it had made up our minds for us, we were off to purchase a new one. Shaun and I discussed what we should get. I said something under £100 and he said a combination microwave/oven one (I didn't realise at the time, but as usual he was to win). ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Microwaves in General: Posh Tosh or Jap Crap? (1596 words)

Our Toshiba ER-672ET DELTA WAVE 650w Microwave. This was one of the very first turn-table models available back in 1981. It was top of the range, big, heavy and very expensive, running at around £300 then. Of course the years have seen advances in technology such that you can buy similar microwaves for around £99 now. But are they as good as the first ones? I know they are not as roomy. I bought this microwave from Curry’s High Street Store in Haverhill, Essex, in December 1981, a year easy to remember because of the reason I decided to buy it. It was the year my first child was born. My son was born on 11th October and everything was new to us, we had ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Will a Microwave Oven be Very Useful To You? (720 words)

I have owned and used a microwave oven for some years now,and I often get asked whether I actually use it and would I miss it if wasn't there? The answer to both these questions is yes. I use it every day and I have grown to rely on a microwave enough to replace it a couple of times when old or broken. My current microwave is a DeLonghi DLT2 which I have owned for about two years. It's a basic machine 900 watts power, 5 power levels, turntable and autocook buttons for Popcorn, Pizza, Potato, Drink and Reheat. So what do I cook in the microwave. Foods that cook really well are fish, vegetables, poultry, soups, sauces and sponge ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Microwaves in General: Sunday Roast A Disaster? Not Anymore! (721 words)

Sunday joint a chore? Burn the roast? Chicken too dry? If this sounds like you (I WAS that woman) you can solve the problem and cook the perfect chicken or joint of meat without any trouble in next to no time! Perfect solution, a combination microwave! I must admit, before I bought my first one I would just not have believed how good they are. The model I have is a 'Panasonic Dimension Plus' which was the top of the range when we bought it just over 18 months ago (maybe not now). Basically, it is a Grill, Convector Oven and Microwave all in one. I think that the 'auto-cook' mode is by far the best ...  Read the complete review
