I'm not sure why this has turned up in the 810 category. This review *is* for the 857. The time had come to get a DVD player. For a long time i had been looking for a dvd player, that supported mp3 music, CD-r & CD-rw as well as VCD and was region free. All of this for under £100, that was my quest for the holly grail. I thought it might just be possible, when last year i saw the Schneider dvd-587 player on sale in ASDA for just £99. They sold out quickly and i lost my chance. That is until the returned last moth for the low low Wal-Mart price of £59 (which is about the average price of a DVD player in the USA). Call it ...

This is for the Schneider 857 from ASDA, bought March 2003. This all started when my Brother in law couldn't play a DVD on his old DVD player. It was a region 2 DVD but it turns out it was NTSC (American Format) and his player wouldn't convert it, the DVD was from Singapore hence the strange combination.... anyway. Off he goes at 9pm on a Saturday and returns with his 857 from ASDA £89 quid bargain and the disc played perfectly. I read the box and handbook this is what I found.
