This has been a great choice of dvd player. I did have a Samsung (woolies cheepo) but this was recalled. So I bought a Sony DVP cx850D. It holds 200 dvds, of which i've filled 100 slots so far. Its really easy to put in more CDs. It has a great on screen menus(it has little pictures for different catagories of films) and a good range of outputs including digital outputs.Many of the features, well, I never really touch them as it can all be done from the remote control. The remote looks a little strange with its shuttle control. It looks like a little joypad. I programmed all the remote functions into my Merantz controller. It worked really well. One annoying little feature is the "glowing" blue light on the front of the panel. This is a bit distracting when watching a movie. I tend to cover it up with something. All in all, i'd say it has been a great buy. It has had no defects or problems.
