      Advantages

      Disadvantages

I just picked up this walkman from an ebay seller in Thailand and I love it! It's small and simple and sounds great. Definitely an analogue sound compared to an mp3 player (real full-bodied, warm, mid-tones and bass and a bit of a damper on the brighter high tones). I wish it didn't ever beep, but it does when you hit any of the controls. Still, this is minor. It's a little pricey finding rechargeable batteries and a charger for this model (as with the other late model sony walkmen), but once it's set up it sure beats AA batteries for how long it plays and also in the long run it's inexpensive. So glad to have my cassette collection back in circulation!

This Walkman has a cracking brushed steel finish on it. It is packed with features, for a tape player, but because of the limitations of the tape format, you cannot expect much. The sound quality on this Walkman is great, for a tape, compared to a CD or even MP3 it just cannot cut it. However that’s just what it is, as for features it sports searching and blank skip, but you may get bored listening to the beeps while the tape rewinds/fast forwards. The headphones supplied are of the Sony “Grove” type, this means they have a little sticky out bit that actually goes into your ear. This means they do not fall out and sound better than other in-ear types, but hurt like hell for about a week before your ears ‘change’ shape! The rechargeable battery is great, but does not last very long (14 hours), in its defence though it the size of a stick of gum. If you do not want to use the rechargeable battery and use a normal AA type, you have to slap on a dry battery case. The remote control does not really add much to the package, though it is useful. What is really worth a mention here is the ‘Sound Revitaliser’ function, this makes any tape sound better and really does work, in conjunction with the ‘Dolby B’ noise reduction sound quality sky rockets, but its still not as good as MP3. A solid, quality Walkman, with a hefty price tag. Not worth it, save up and by a MP3 or CD Walkman.
